L F Research has assisted in the conception, development, testing, and support of products. These products cover a wide range from white goods, through automotive, ITE, Marine, Aerospace, to Spacecraft.

Conception
The most cost effective EMC design is achieved at the start of the project. At this point, the EMC requirements can be translated into guidance for the system, mechanical and electrical designers. Often, significant EMC protection is achieved free.

Development
As the first ideas turn into hardware, we have often seen designers plagued by problems that could have been avoided: especially with development or prototype hardware. By a combination of drawing review, component and material selection, circuit layout and packaging, time can be devoted to developing the intended functions rather than chasing "Red Herrings".

In association with a facility partner, designs can be modeled using Flowmerics, arguably the most capable EMC modeling software on the market.

Testing
Once a product is made, L F Research has extensive test capability to prove the design is sound. Preparation of the product for testing is a particular strong point.

Support
Once the product is being marketed, L F Research can assist in technical issues that arise with local authorities. In addition, changes to the products that may influence the Compliance status can be efficiently addressed.

Documentation
LF Research has written over a hundred EMC control Plans, Test Procedures and reports. Regardless of where you test, you can be assured of a competently writen document that can withstand the most critical reviews.

Assessment Capabilities

Quality System Assistance
As a senior EMC lab assessor with one of the two USA premium accrediting bodies, Derek has extensive knowledge in Quality system structure. Having developed L F Researches quality system, and been instrumental in developing several other quality systems for both test and calibration facilities, it is quite possible he can help develop your ideal Quality system too.

Pre-Assessment Audits
Once a quality system is developed, it is often beneficial to have a fresh pair of eyes review for areas where improvements should be made. Ideally, such a review would take place before the formal assessment process begins in order to minimize the number of deficiencies raised. Deficiencies are easier to fix prior to the start of the accrediting process, we can help you find them.

ISO 17025 Internal Audit Assistance
Once a laboratory is accredited, it is an ISO 17025 requirement to perform an internal audit annually. Such an audit is best performed by a technically competent individual not associated with the daily running of the lab. Derek has assisted a number of laboratories fulfill this requirement.
