An ongoing critisism of LFR has been the reception for cell phones inside the laboratory. The level of communications signals inside an EMC laboratory is a double edged sword.

The LFR location was chosen because of it's low ambient noise. In addition, the building was constructed to minimise radio signal transmission. The action was taken before cell phones became so prominent. The lack of signal often has proved flustrating for LFR and clients at the facility when trying to communicate with the outside world, or when trying to communicate with LFR.

A solution has been found and purchased. By installing a dedicated link to a cell phone tower and employing a private antenna system withing the laboratory, excellent reception is availble but can be deactivated in the event interfereance with a test is possible.
